Nothing is more exciting than celebrating the start of a new chapter and life together after your wedding, which is why honeymoons are such an important part of your journey together as newlyweds. One of the most enriching and memorable destinations in the world to visit for honeymoons is Thailand. Most people are put off by the distance from Canada, but trust us when we say that the long journey is worth every second once you see what awaits as soon as you walk out of the plane.
We know that planning a trip to a destination halfway across the world can be daunting, so we’ve narrowed down some of our favourite destinations to visit in Thailand for honeymooners. Take note and write down these Thailand destinations if you’re considering Thailand for your honeymoon!

BANGKOK
You knew that this one would be on the list! Bangkok is a great place to start because it’s the primary gateway to Thailand and has two airports, which offers flights to other areas in the country. Here, you can immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of this exciting metropolis where you’ll discover a combination of both old and new. You’ll see modern skyscrapers, elaborate shopping malls, and affordable luxury hotels, but at the same time, you’ll be amazed at the stunning temples and Royal complexes, like Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, that have been preserved for centuries. Bangkok is also a culinary lover’s paradise with Michelin-star restaurants, cooking schools, and street food stalls offering authentic and modern Thai dishes. Rest assured that you won’t get bored in a city like Bangkok!

Here are some of our favourite places to stay in Bangkok:
Peninsula Bangkok
Akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok

Chao Phraya River, Bangkok

CHIANG MAI
Chiang Mai, located in Northern Thailand, is a city with a laid-back vibe that’s rich in culture and traditions, but still has the same excitement and vibrancy as Bangkok. It’s home to some of the most magnificent ancient temples like Wat Chedi Luang in the Old City Walls and Wat Doi Suthep up in the mountains. It’s also home to amazing elephant sanctuaries that are dedicated to the preservation and proper treatment of elephants, which is not only a humbling experience, but something that is educational and unforgettable. Like Bangkok (and simply anywhere else in Thailand), Chiang Mai’s culinary and shopping scene doesn’t fall short. Although not as modern, Chiang Mai is home to some of the best local markets and night bazaars in the country - perfect for those who love shopping for local souvenirs. Chiang Mai will also be the newest addition to Thailand’s Michelin Guide scheduled to be out in November 2019, so get your taste buds ready!

CHIANG RAI
If you’re visiting Chiang Mai, you might as well make a stop to one of its neighbouring cities, Chiang Rai, to make the most out of your Northern Thailand experience. If you’ve seen photos of the mesmerizing White Temple on Instagram, then definitely visit here to see it in person! Chiang Rai is about a 3-hour drive from Chiang Mai and it’s Thailand’s northernmost city, close to the border of Laos and Myanmar. Not only is it home to colourful temples, like the Blue and Black Temples, but it also offers a truly local experience that you won’t get in other popular areas in Thailand.

Hotel Recommendation: Check out The Reverie by Katathani, a beautiful and serene hotel by the river.

SOUTHERN THAILAND
A trip to Thailand isn’t complete without a visit to it’s incredible islands. A lot of travelers will opt to go to Phuket, the largest and most popular island in the country, but for honeymooners, we recommend Koh Samui and Koh Pha Nga, located in the Gulf of Thailand. The best time to visit here is between July-August and January-February. Travelers can easily take a boat tour to go island hopping and experience true luxury in Thailand. There are plenty of lavish hotels and resorts that have gorgeous villas with private pools, breathtaking views of the sea, and world-class spas where you can book an authentic Thai massage together. Not only will you have a romantic getaway of a lifetime, but you’ll create memories that will truly last forever.
