Fees & Restrictions

• Additional charge for Minister or Justice of the Peace applicable to all Religious, Nondenominational and Civil wedding ceremonies
• Preparation and certification of legal document and marriage certificate available at an additional charge
• Legal wedding fees are not included, additional and vary by destination
• Government taxes and fees may apply by destination and are extra cost
• To secure a date beyond 12 months, a non-refundable deposit of $500. USD will be required. This deposit will be applied toward the total cost of the package
• All package prices are quoted in US Dollars and include ceremony setup and inclusions only and inclusions as described. Standard package décor inclusions may vary by destination
• Natural flowers availability may vary by season and destination
• Package prices do not include hotel rooms nor upgraded room features or amenities
• Package inclusions and prices are subject to change without prior notice
• Package inclusions have no cash value. There are no refunds for unused elements/events and items/inclusions nor are exchangeable for others
• All wedding packages require a minimum of 80% of all wedding guests to stay at wedding destination resort for a minimum of three (3) nights
• Wedding guests who are not staying at the resort will be required to purchase a day/night pass (depending on time of wedding) prior to wedding date in order to attend the wedding
• Company wedding policy at Occidental Grand is no more than two (2) weddings per day
• Guests using non-resort contracted vendors for private events will be issued an Outside Vendor Fee per vendor. Fees vary based on vendor
• Complimentary Coconut Paradise wedding package is not applicable for Vacation Club members or be combined with any other promotions
• In order to qualify for the complimentary Coconut Paradise Package the following stipulations must be met: One (1) Royal Club Master Suite category reservation for 7 nights or 10 Deluxe room category rooms reservations for 3 nights Accommodation can be booked in the following ways to apply: - Direct reservations with Occidental Romance Department -Tour operator group contract from USA or Canada -Accommodations booked in any other way are not applicable. Standard booking procedures will apply and Coconut Paradise package cost will be refunded either prior to final payment or after travel
• All wedding ceremony packages, unless specified, include setup in a garden wedding location. Beach ceremonies have an additional cost
• Private dinner reception has a guest fee of $50. USD and it includes: Option of a pre-set 3 course menu (depending on dinner venue) or buffet dinner (Mexican or Caribbean style ), event space rental and open bar for 2 hours (includes service, setup, staffing and use of venue) and specialty décor matching the confirmed wedding package/ceremony (linens and chairs)
• Beach setup for private reception has an additional cost of $20. USD per guest
• Cocktail receptions can be added to any of our wedding packages for $15. USD per guest per hour (open bar only)
• Extension of private dinner receptions (beyond the 2 hours included in initial package pricing) is available for an additional $15.USD per guest per hour
• All additional services or items are subject to a 16% service charge and sales tax

Requirements for a Legal Wedding in Mexico

Documents Required:

• Marriage Application (Marriage request form) – the hotel's wedding specialist will provide the form
• Valid passports and drivers licences (or official photo ID's) for the wedding couple (+ photocopies of each)
• Original birth certificates for the wedding couple (+ photocopies of each)
• Valid passports or official photo ID’s for the 4 witnesses (+ photocopies of each)
• If the bride and/or groom is divorced or widowed, an original divorce or death certificate is required
• Tourist Visa cards for the wedding couple and witnesses (issued on your entry to Mexico)
• A blood test (name, blood type, syphilis and HIV) is required. The blood test must be done in Mexico by a government laboratory. An appointment will be made to have the sample taken at the hotel. The cost of $200.00 USD is to be paid in cash to the person administering the test

Other Requirements:

• All documents, except the passport, must be Apostille* by the authorities of the country where they were issued (if not Mexico). Birth certificates must be translated into Spanish by a certified translator.
• Passports and birth certificates must contain the same information
• The Tourist Visa card must be completed with the same information as shown on the official documents you will present
• There can be no marriage if either party tests positive for HIV
• If the bride is divorced in Canada and her passport is in her ex-husband's last name, she needs to bring an original birth certificate certified by the Mexican Consulate in Canada and translated into Spanish. In addition, the certification and her Tourist Visa card MUST be completed as per the name on the birth certificate
• If the bride is divorced in the United States or the United Kingdom and her passport is in her ex-husband's last name, she needs to bring an original birth certificate certified by an Apostille* in her home country and translated into Spanish. In addition, the Apostille* and her Tourist Visa card MUST be completed as per the name on the Birth Certificate
• You must be divorced for at least one year before remarrying in Mexico
• Original birth certificates and original divorce certificates will be kept by the Justice of the Peace. THEY WILL NOT BE RETURNED
• Laws and requirements are subject to change in accordance with Mexican Laws
• Please contact the wedding specialist if you have any questions and/or concerns regarding documentation
• The couple must leave a copy of the marriage certificate at the hotel before departing
• The marriage certificate, with the Apostille* seal, attesting to the legal marriage in Mexico will be sent (could take up to 3 to 4 months) to the couple at the couple's cost

* When documents need to be recognized as legal in a foreign country, they’re required to go through the Apostille process, also known as authentication and legalization
