  • In order to confirm a wedding with Occidental Hotels & Resorts a non-refundable deposit of $350. USD is required
  • The non-refundable deposit will be used towards wedding extras or the wedding package chosen
  • Final payment is due three (3) days prior to wedding date
  • A last minute wedding is considered when booking thirty (30) days or within thirty (30) days of the wedding date. A $450. USD surcharge will apply if the couple wishes to book a package they are getting complimentary based on the room booked or number of rooms booked with group. Must be paid in full at time of booking
  • Couples may bring favors, place cards, table numbers, cake topper, guest book, cake cutter, champagne flutes and the hotel staff will set them up. There will be a set-up fee of $300. USD per event and for decoration needing extra work such Chinese lanterns, bulbs strings, chandeliers, fabrics or any similar item
  • If the event is being hosted on the beach, there is a set-up fee that applies. Please consult your wedding coordinator for more details
  • Any guest(s) attending the wedding but not staying onsite must purchase a wedding pass in order to gain access to the hotel. the fee is $15. USD per person. The hotel will only allow the purchase of wedding passes up to a maximum of 20% of the total number of guests attending the wedding. Guests with wedding day passes are allowed on property two hours prior to ceremony and until the wedding activities have ended. Guests are able to purchase a wedding day passes with their wedding coordinator prior to arrival and pick them up at the front desk.
  • A fee is charged for each third party vendor contracted that is not a preferred vendor of the hotel:
    a) Photography / Videography: The Ocean Photo Weddings holds the copyrights to the images taken  at the resort; if the couple hires a different company a fee of $550. USD will apply. This fee can be waived if the photographer/videographer stays in the resort for a minimum of 3 nights. For inquiries, contact: weddings@theoceanphoto.com
    b) Decoration: Alquimia Events have the exclusive rights for Décor and Flowers. A fee of $1,000. USD will apply if another supplier is used
    c) Audiovisual (DJ, lighting): Encore Events Technologies has an exclusivity contract with the hotel for audiovisual services; a fee of $228 USD will be charged if an alternate company is hired
    d) If the on-site hair dresser or make-up artist is used, a fee of $20. USD per person will apply.
  • Cancelling wedding more than three (3) months before the wedding date, all payments other than the non-refundable deposit will be refunded.
  • If cancelling the wedding ceremony three (3) months or less prior to wedding date, there will be no refunds of any kind.
  • If inclement weather is forecast on the day, the decision (by noon for evening weddings, 6 PM the day before for morning ceremonies) to use an alternate location for the planned events. If the couple decides after those times, a setup fee of $15. USD per person per event will be charged, as a result of the late notice of change of location. Services not delivered due to adverse weather conditions will not be reimbursed
  • Government taxes are subject to possible modification without prior notice due to changes in government regulations
  • If a dinner reservation is included with your package, the reservation will be held for fifteen (15) minutes. Arriving after15 minutes, will result in forfeiting the reservation

Requirements for a Legal Wedding in Mexico

Documents Required:
  • Marriage Application (Marriage request form) – the hotel's wedding specialist will provide the form
  • Valid passports and drivers licences (or official photo ID's) for the wedding couple (+ photocopies of each)
  • Original birth certificates for the wedding couple (+ photocopies of each)
  • Valid passports or official photo ID’s for the 4 witnesses (+ photocopies of each)
  • If the bride and/or groom is divorced or widowed, an original divorce or death certificate is required
  • Tourist Visa cards for the wedding couple and witnesses (issued on your entry to Mexico)
  • A blood test (name, blood type, syphilis and HIV) is required. The blood test must be done in Mexico by a government laboratory. An appointment will be made to have the sample taken at the hotel. The cost of $160.00 USD is to be paid in cash to the person administering the test
Other Requirements:
  • All documents, except the passport, must be Apostille* by the authorities of the country where they were issued (if not Mexico). Birth certificates must be translated into Spanish by a certified translator.
  • Passports and birth certificates must contain the same information
  • The Tourist Visa card must be completed with the same information as shown on the official documents you will present
  • There can be no marriage if either party tests positive for HIV
  • If the bride is divorced in Canada and her passport is in her ex-husband's last name, she needs to bring an original birth certificate certified by the Mexican Consulate in Canada and translated into Spanish. In addition, the certification and her Tourist Visa card MUST be completed as per the name on the birth certificate
  • If the bride is divorced in the United States or the United Kingdom and her passport is in her ex-husband's last name, she needs to bring an original birth certificate certified by an Apostille* in her home country and translated into Spanish. In addition, the Apostille* and her Tourist Visa card MUST be completed as per the name on the Birth Certificate
  • You must be divorced for at least one year before remarrying in Mexico
  • Original birth certificates and original divorce certificates will be kept by the Justice of the Peace. THEY WILL NOT BE RETURNED
  • Laws and requirements are subject to change in accordance with Mexican Laws
  • Please contact the wedding specialist if you have any questions and/or concerns regarding documentation
  • The couple must leave a copy of the marriage certificate at the hotel before departing
  • The marriage certificate, with the Apostille* seal, attesting to the legal marriage in Mexico will be sent (could take up to 3 to 4 months) to the couple at the couple's cost

* When documents need to be recognized as legal in a foreign country, they’re required to go through the Apostille process, also known as authentication and legalization
